Someone asked me this question a couple days ago and I thought I'd misheard. For a second I was lost for words because this is what zipped through my temporarily addled brain:
Just kidding...I didn't think any of those things. Just this one:
But back to the original question: What's Your Sign? It came from a customer looking for a book on astrology, of which I had precisely One. Hadn't been asked that question in, well, can't remember when. Since before we moved here to Missouri. In the seven years we've lived here, maybe one person has asked me that so that might explain the reduced speed of my reply, "Leo."
"Oooh." (pause) You're one of those."
(Spoken as though "Leo" was a distasteful political faction)
Being the polite bookstore owner and appreciator of manners when manners are due, I said, "Yes, I am."
"So's my ex and he was nothing but trouble. Always thought he was right and could never make up his mind about anything."
Now, here I have to tell you that there are about six things I cannot abide and one of them is when a person speaks in generalities. When she/he spats out a generalization they might as well add, "And I have no control over my brain, don't you know? It is entirely independent of my body". One experience with a person, good or bad, does not mean similar situations will have the same results with everyone else you encounter. Every being capable of thinking and reasoning knows this...don't they? So that's why I ignored the woman's stab at lumping me in the same category as her rabble-rousing, scorner of advice ex-husband, smiled, took her money and wished her a good day. (And a silent Good Luck to whoever she was with now).

There are other traits associated with Leo, (per people who lived beaucoup thousands years ago) that I consider negative and do not apply to me: Status-conscious...Like being center stage...Like to spend money
Do you know what character traits apply to your own astrological sign? Are you curious about how those traits were conjured? How did those labels get slapped onto people born on your birth date? AND have you heard that it's supposedly a challenge for you to get along with others who have your "sign"?
(Man-Of-The-House-But-Not-The-Boss). His date of birth is four days (and 5 years) after mine, making him a Leo too. We've gotten along just fine for a lot of years. Maybe we're an anomaly among the stars....
