A lot of fads that we've forgotten about - or tried to - often make a reappearance. I figure it's desperation on the part of marketeers. Can't come up with a smashing new idea? Unearth one that was a hit in another era. There will always be an unsuspecting younger generation who simply will not be happy unless they own at least one.
A few Christmases ago my daughter gave me something that I'd had in the....well, my youth...and it's popularity has never really waned. A lava lamp. The one she gave me has rainbow colored glass and is as mesmerizing as the all blue one I had....a uh, while ago. A fad that just keeps on going - and going - and going and is oh so fascinating! (see first picture in this blog if you've forgotten what a lava lamp looks like. Alliteration!)
Others that have varied ratings on the Fascinating and Useful Scale are:
Pet rocks – this quirky fad began as a joke about the perfect pet; wouldn’t need to be fed, or potty-trained or crated. Came with their own little cardboard box.
I am not making this up.
Disco music – still with us. And the vote is still out as to whether that’s a good thing.
never to be seen again?
Are there any you wish would make a reappearance?
