Hello?? Anybody there?!
You notice a laptop on a stool behind the counter and a cell phone on top of the counter. Someone is working here today. Maybe they're in the bathroom? You glance around for other customers. Still totally empty of anyone but you.
You wait ten minutes, a generously reasonable time to wait on someone taking a potty break.
Eleven minutes. Still no one.
Now you're wondering just how badly you want these DVDs that you didn't even come to the mall to buy.
They're on sale, half price, you used to own them, loaned them out, never got them back. You want them. Must have them. Today.
So......with no witnesses and no one here to take your money for the two DVDs you........What?
As I see it you have four options:
1) leave the store without the DVDs,
2) leave the DVDs and hope
that when and IF you come back they'll be there and still on sale,
3) take the DVDs without paying,
4) leave the money and a note on the counter
explaining what you
"Two books from the cart, outside, thanks"
That last one has happened a couple times. Even had a quarter mailed to me. A quarter! Cost almost twice as much for the person to mail it me than the book did!
Today's post was prompted by a $1 bill and note left on the counter while I was visiting with next-door shop owners this past Saturday. The note read:
"Bought video tape Jacob's Ladder and Mystic Pizza".
The videos were only 25 cents each. I hope the person stops in again so I can pay back the 50 cents I owe them!
